This Access Statement is intended to provide accurate information regarding the layout, access, and facilities at Pentlands Shepherds Hut to enable guests to make an informed decision prior to booking. The hut is situated within private grounds in a rural countryside setting.

Pentlands Shepherds Hut is privately owned and run by Chris & Sarah Stone. We have one single storey shepherds hut which has its own ensuite shower & toilet, and kitchen facilities.

1. PRE-ARRIVAL INFORMATION

Pentlands Shepherds Hut is located within the grounds of Trematon Hall, near Saltash, South East Cornwall. The property is accessed via a rural lane.

2. ARRIVAL & PARKING

  • Private parking is available on site at the end of an uneven mixed gravel/ concrete surface. There is one farm gate – please keep closed at all times.

  • The parking area is located a short walking distance from the hut.

  • The surface consists of gravel and/or natural ground.

  • Lighting is limited in keeping with the rural setting; guests are advised to bring a torch when arriving after dark.

3. ACCESS TO THE HUT

  • Access from the parking area to the hut is via gravel, grass, and/or natural ground.

  • Surfaces may be uneven and can become slippery in wet weather.

  • The hut is accessed via steps leading onto a twin raised decking area.

  • There is no ramp access.

  • The entrance door is a single standard-width door.

Due to the steps and rural terrain, the property may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

4. INTERNAL LAYOUT

  • The hut is arranged on one level internally.

  • Accommodation is compact in keeping with the traditional shepherd’s hut design.

  • The bed is a fixed double bed.

  • A kitchenette area is provided, including essential cooking facilities suitable for preparing light meals.

  • The shower room includes a shower enclosure, wash basin, and WC.

  • A wood-burning stove is installed within the main living area for heating and atmosphere; care should be taken as surfaces may become hot during use.

  • Flooring may include wood or similar hard surfaces

There are no handrails installed internally beyond standard fixtures.

5. OUTDOOR AREAS

  • The hut has a private twin, upper & lower decking area for guest use. There is also use of a seated fire pit area.

  • The surrounding land consists of countryside, grass, woodland, and agricultural areas.

  • Access around the wider grounds may include uneven terrain, gravel paths, farm gates, and stiles.

  • Surfaces may be uneven, sloped, or slippery in wet weather.

  • As this is a working rural environment, wildlife and livestock may be present.

  • Guests are asked not to enter fields, farm buildings, animal enclosures, or gated areas without prior permission.

6. HEATING, UTILITIES & SAFETY

  • The hut is connected to mains electricity.

  • Running hot and cold water is provided.

  • Heating is available for year-round stays.

  • Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are fitted.

  • Fire safety instructions are provided within the hut.

7. SUITABILITY

Pentlands Shepherds Hut is designed as a romantic retreat for two adults. Due to the steps, compact layout, and rural surroundings, it may not be suitable for wheelchair users or those requiring step-free access.
