Welcome To Pentlands Shepherds Hut – born from a shared love of nature and the outdoors. The result – simple living, beautiful surroundings, and somewhere others can slow down, switch off, and truly enjoy the calm of South East Cornwall.
A Warm Welcome

We are Chris and Sarah, and our journey began out of the blue in early 2025 when we were offered the chance to give new life to an old shepherd’s hut.
With a shared love of the outdoors and countryside, we saw the potential to create a peaceful retreat where others could slow down and reconnect with nature. What started as an unexpected opportunity has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of.
Creating Pentlands Shepherds Hut has been a true labour of love, and we’re incredibly proud of what it has become. Seeing guests enjoy the calm and comfort it offers has inspired us to look ahead, and we’re excited to expand with additional huts and hope that, one day, this can become our full-time way of life.
Our Story - So Far
TIME. PATIENCE. DEDICATION.
From the very beginning, this has been a family project. Transforming the hut into what it is today took time, patience, and a great deal of dedication, all carefully balanced around busy family life and full-time jobs. Many evenings and weekends were spent gradually bringing the hut together, focusing on thoughtful details and creating a space that feels both comfortable and connected to its surroundings.
The Transformation
CHARACTER. COMFORT. CRAFT.
The shepherd’s hut has been sympathetically stripped back where needed, allowing us to carefully rework and modernise the space while keeping its traditional character. It has since been fully updated and repainted inside and out, creating a fresh, comfortable interior that still feels true to its roots.
To ensure a relaxing and practical stay, we introduced modern essentials including running hot and cold water and mains electricity. Every update has been made with comfort in mind, without losing the simplicity that makes a shepherd’s hut special.
With a very big helping hand from David, we also created a spacious two-tier decking area, designed as an extension of the living space. This includes a hot tub, seating, and BBQ facilities, offering a perfect place to unwind outdoors. Roofing will soon be added to this area, allowing it to be enjoyed all year round, whatever the weather.
A new fire pit area has also added, using tree trunks found on the land to create natural seating, making it an inviting spot to gather in the evenings and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
